Amongst other marketing strategies, sports always bags excellence. Throughout the years, the FIFA campaigns have stood out like no other, and here’s how:
ADIDAS ‘FOOTBALLITIS’ – 2002 WORLD CUP
The Adidas ‘Footballitis’ grabbed the attention of the viewers in a very different and ingenious way. It showed how the football fever can be widespread once you step in the ‘Adidas’. That in itself was very different than the campaigns which were promoted before. Have a look for yourself!
NIKE ‘AIRPORT’ – 1998 WORLD CUP
Second on the list is Nike’s airport commercial. This campaign shows how the game of football needn’t be on the ground but on any surface that allows. It shows how one doesn’t need a ground to get into the spirit of it and this message spread like a wildfire across the audience.
GOOGLE’S 2014 CAMPAIGN
Google took the campaigning up a notch by adding more information to it’s search results. Really, that’s just it. It was a very simple yet impactful change. Till today, people always find the google scoreboard to be reliable.
UNIBET’S 2016 ‘LUCK IS NO COINCIDENCE’ CAMPAIGN
This Unibet campaign helped people to bet smarter. Think of it, Unibet being a betting site, made people think of it being more than that. It made the campaign more educational by encouraging the #LUCKISNOCOINCIDENCE . With this very appeal, it made the fans come closer to Unibet as a brand and made betting on football more reliable and easy.
THE ‘WAVING FLAG’
Rapper K’Naan’s ‘Waving flag’ cannot be called as a campaign in its true sense but it was used in various football ad campaigns. This song had become the official football World Cup theme back in 2010 and is still referred to as one. No football World Cup theme will even get close to this say the fans.
And lastly, as the world cup is just around the corner, here is the football campaign which touched the hearts of millions.
THE GAME BEFORE THE GAME CAMPAIGN – BEATS BY DR. DRE
This short ad film shows how the mind needs to be well prepared before the match. It demonstrates how the state of mind and the positive energy is a necessity and how the new ‘beats’ can contribute to avoid any deviances. The way Neymar is shown to have built confidence through his dad’s words throughout the duration also spreads across the message of how support contributes to the player’s strength and why ‘beats’ by Dr. Dre add to it.
